Promises Kept

Mayor-President Melvin L. “Kip” Holden has kept his promises to be accessible to those in need. December 1, 2005, Mayor-President Holden hosted a prayer breakfast for the Greater Baton Rouge community to unveil his “HIV/AIDS Task-Force.” Joyce Turner-Keller, an advocate living with AIDS thanks the Mayor for a Promise Kept. At a memorial service on May 12, 2005, the Mayor signed a proclamation making December 1, World AIDS Day in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Truly he takes the statistics serious and does not sit on the side-line, but takes an aggressive approach to addressing the issues of HIV/AIDS in Baton Rouge.  This is one elected official that has kept his promise!
