Service Learning Gets Mother’s Attention

 

It was wonderful to have a mother sit  in a support group with her daughter; learning as she learned, sharing experiences of what it was like to not have someone discuss with her the topics that were the subjects of the day. Keegan Willis (fourth from left) a Southern University student facilitated the discussion of (HPV) Human Papillomavirus. Monique Marsh, another student invited her mother to participate.  Mrs. Marsh had flown in from Dallas , Texas. She said, “How impressed I am to be among such professional students. Listening to my daughter talk about what takes place at Aspirations reassures me that she is in the right place. I worry less knowing she is in a professional, educational and caring program directing her in such a positive direction. She has shared so much information with me. It is good to see my little girl has become quite the smart young woman. I would recommend this site for Service Learning to any student, especially young women. The knowledge and experience gained at Aspirations is priceless.”
